Breast Implants

The popularity of breast implants is once again on the rise. There are new and improved implants on the market today. These implants have much less complications that those in earlier years.

There are several types and sizes of breast implants today. Each of these implants has their own unique quality to them. A person’s body size and chest cavity shape will be the main factors in which implant works best for them. A qualified cosmetic surgeon will be able to go over all of the options available with their patient.

Round Implants

Round Implants are one of the more common shaped implants. This is not only because they give a more natural looking breast but because they also are lower in cost than many other types. The round implants can come in either silicone fill or in a saline fill. The fill options will need to be discussed with a cosmetic surgeon. Some surgeons tend to only like one type of breast implant although most will use the implant that their patient desires.

Teardrop Implant

The anatomical breast implants, or teardrop implant, were designed to give women a more natural shape to their breasts. The weight, or larger part, of the implant is on the bottom. This gives the breasts the curve that normal breasts have. These implants come in a textured surface which allows for the cosmetic surgeon to have an easier time with the placement. It is also textured to help the tissue surrounding the breast to adhere to the implant. This adherence makes the implant stay in place after the surgery.

Gel Implants

Cohesive gel implants are newer type of breast implant. These were placed on the market to help with complaints that other implants did not feel natural to some women. The cohesive gel, or gummy bear implant, are a very strong and durable breast implant. These implants are thick and feel quite like a gummy bear does. These implants also have a stronger outer shell than most other implants do. These implants are less likely to rupture than other types. The cohesive gel implants can be placed in the patient in a variety of sizes. Since these implants come pre-filled placement options are limited for the cosmetic surgeon.

Complications

With any type of breast implant there are complications that could arise after the cosmetic surgery. Rippling, rupturing and scarring are some of the many complications associated with many breast implants.
